Phase One Certified Professional Training!
Phase One has been offering certification training to dealers for quite a while now, but now it’s time to open it up to photographers, assistants & digital techs! This program is designed to teach participants the skills they need to get the most out of Phase One equipment and software. It will also create an online database which photographers can use to locate certified digital techs with advanced Capture One and troubleshooting knowledge.
Who can participate?
This program is intended exclusively for working digital techs and assistants who are already well versed in digital workflow. Photographers with strong digital knowledge may also participate. All participants should already be fairly well versed in Capture One software, as this is not a software training workshop.
How do I get certified?
The certification process consists of two steps:
1. Qualification. Register with Bear Images, Call us at 650-321-2327.
2. Live training. Attend an official Phase One Certification Training Course and pass the written exam at the end.
Training takes place over a two-day period encompassing everything from efficient on-set workflow to troubleshooting to advanced software techniques. At the end of the two days it culminates with a certification exam. Those who pass the exam are given the title of Phase One Certified Professional and listed in the official Phase One database.
The training program includes:
- A full license of Capture One Pro 7
- A special Trouble Shooting Guide
- Get listed on Phase One's website as a "Phase One Certified Digital Tech"
- Extensive shooting time on the Phase One 645DF camera
-Extensive shooting time on the Phase One digital backs
What if I want more knowledge but I’m not ready for certification?
If your digital workflow knowledge isn’t quite up to par, you can first attend a Capture One training with Bear Images & gain a lot of information. If you’re a hobbyist or even advanced enthusiast, this may be all you need to get going! We typically offer our Capture One workshop every few weeks, so if you’re interested in attending one, send us an email
Or click here to check the calendar of currently scheduled events!
The certification is right around the corner, so now’s the time to get started. Please call Bear Images for more information and get started on your pre-qualification! Class size is limited, so reserve your seat soon!
Training will be held at Bear Images’ NEW learning Lab on the corner of Mariposa and Mississippi St. in San Francisco.

How and why Phase One makes the difference in Eric Skaar's workflow.
Erik Skaar is a luxury still life photographer specializing in product, liquids, and high speed capture. His simple approach, use of color, and clean technique create visually arresting and elegant results ideal for liquids and luxury products. Erik is endlessly fascinated by all things liquid and frequently incorporates this element into his imagery. Erik is also an adjunct instructor at Seattle Central Creative Academy where he teaches various subjects on commercial photography and new media.

Erik will discuss his photography and some of the tools and techniques he utilizes to precisely capture dynamic moments in the studio. Most photographers appreciate timing, preparation and pre-visualization. Erik will share how he brings these elements to his studio shoots, and how high-end digital photography has enhanced his abilities and techniques to make liquid photography more effective.
Erik will provide a shooting demonstration of his workflow, utilizing medium-format digital and discuss some of the set-ups he may use to accomplish a given project as well as many tips and tricks that he has spent years refining.
